Oct. 21, 2-4:00PM at the Yoga Studio
Join Mary for this hands-n Ayurvedic workshop. As the seasons change, Ayurvedic wisdom teaches that it's the perfect time for a digestive reset. This is a time to clear the heat of summer and prepare for the coming seasons. We will gather the first weekend in Mary's kitchen to learn how to make kitchari, ghee and our own spice mix that will nourish us over the coming week. Each participant will be given a pamplet with directions, Ayurvedic wisdom and guided prompts for the weeklong cleanse. The second Saturday, we'll meet at Southern Star to share our experiences and learn balancing tips for fall and winter. Space is limited, Register Early!
We will go through the fundamentals of handstands including how to warm up your wrists and engage your core to safely enter and exit a handstand, to finding some air time on your hands.
Are you yearning to learn about the deeper truths and philosophy mentioned in regular yoga asana classes? This workshop is an opportunity to delve deeper into the wisdom of yoga. In this workshop we will study one of the most important spiritual texts from India, the Bhagavad Gita (The Song of God). The Gita teaches us how to use the struggles and conflicts of our daily lives to cultivate the inner life of spirit. Over the course of 3 Sundays we will practice asana, meditation and chanting and discuss the themes embodied in the Gita as we strive to live richer and more fulfilling lives. Each 2.5hr Sunday class will meet from 11:30-2pm
Bring a journal and pen and a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. Suggested version: Stephen Mitchell's, The Bhagavad Gita: A New Translation. Harmony Books, New York, 2000. All levels of experience are welcome. For more information, contact us at info@southernstaryoga.com or call Mary 662/832-1941.
Join us for a 3 Sundays for a practice focused on buidling strength and flexibility for runners. Core strength, hips, hamstrings, IT bands, glutes and breath.
